Nepali-origin police officer Pradeep Tamang in Georgia, was shot and killed

GEORGIA:- Pradeep Tamang, a local police officer in Georgia, USA, has been murdered. He was killed in the line of duty in a shooting at a hotel in the Stone Mountain area of ​​Gwinnett County, Iowa, on Sunday morning.

Tamang and his colleague, MPO David Reid, arrived at the Holiday Inn Express hotel at around 7:30 am on Sunday to respond to a complaint about fraud at the hotel. During a discussion in the hotel room, 35-year-old Kevin Andrews suddenly pulled out a gun and opened fire. Tamang died on the spot in the ensuing gunfire.

Pradeep Tamang, 25, had been working for the Sioux County Police Department since 2025. Tamang, who came to the United States from Nepal about 10 years ago, had previously lived in Pennsylvania. His family members and fiancée are also there. The police department said it is taking steps to bring Tamang’s family to Georgia.

County Police Chief J.D. McClure expressed his condolences, calling Tamang’s death “an irreparable loss of a brave police officer dedicated to his duty.” County Chairwoman Nicole Love Hendrickson also urged the community to unite and express sympathy to the grieving family.
